Painting “Starry Night”, Vincent Van Gogh
There is no artist in the world who would not be attracted to the starry sky. The author has repeatedly appealed to this romantic and mysterious object.
The master was closely within the real world. He considered that it was his imagination, the game of imagination, which was necessary for a fuller image. It is known that by the time the picture was created, the author was undergoing another course of treatment, he was allowed to work only if his condition improved. The artist was deprived of the opportunity to create in kind. He created many works during this period (including “Starry Night”) from memory.

Pissing pug, Lucifer and other ambiguous sculptures that caused a lot of controversy
Any art form is controversial, and statues are no exception. Considering that they are made, as a rule, in honor of famous people, objects or events, all people simply cannot have the same attitude to sculptures. Therefore, it is not surprising that often ordinary statues are the cause of discord.
1. Lucifer from Liege
“Lucifer from Liege” – a statue in the Cathedral of St. Paul in the Belgian city of Liege. The official name of the statue is Le genie du mal (“The genius of evil). It was made in 1848 by sculptor Guillaume Gifs. But few people know that in fact the “Genius of Evil” was not the original statue of Lucifer, created for the church. Nudity in the history of art: How to change the attitude to nu from Venus Paleolithic to classical painting
Thanks to Ivan Efremov and his “Tais of Athens”, the general public became aware of the notions of “hymnophiles” – that is, those who sing nudity – and “hymnophobes” – those who oppose the image of a naked human body. Since the topic of nudity in contemporary art is often rather provocative, does this suggest that the latter are currently setting the tone?
